Which Method Works Best? Indoor vs. Outdoor Pest Control
Customers regularly call to ask about spiders, stink bugs, ants, fleas, and more. While the problem is indoors, many of these pests enter the home from the outside. One of the major concerns with indoor controls is that indoor methods can give you more heebie-jeebies than the pests themselves. You may want to consider whether you want to deal with the pests IN your home or if you want to prevent them from getting inside in the first place. It’s helpful to consider that outdoor pest control has become so effective that it’s quickly replacing the need for indoor pest control. Unless it’s a serious infestation of snakes, mice, cockroaches, or termites, our treatment will often keep the problem from entering your home in the first place. Traditional – This is the treatment that is typically used for most clients. It offers a great protection rate of roughly 90% elimination. What does 90% mean? Where you may have received seven bites in an evening outdoors, the treatment should reduce that to one to two bites per week. This traditional treatment offers the best effectiveness as well as the best price. If you are worried about safety, you shouldn’t… It’s perfectly safe for you, your family, your pets, and all the plants in your yard! At least ten products in your home (including cleaners, de-cloggers, and building materials) are significantly more dangerous to your family than control products. The traditional treatment is the best value considering price and protection.
Organic – Despite the safety of our traditional product, some customers prefer using an organic product. This product offers a roughly 80% elimination of mosquitoes. You will likely see a few more mosquitoes, but it should certainly be livable. Rather than the often-mentioned Garlic Treatment, we use something that leaves your yard smelling significantly better – Mint, Rosemary, and sometimes Cedar! Unlike the traditional treatment, it has an odor, but it only lasts a few hours, and since it makes your yard smell like root beer or a cedar forest, it’s very pleasant. It eliminates mosquitoes and ticks very well and can even be used in our misting systems for an organic repellent in your complete control. Because it requires a more frequent application, it’s a bit pricey, but the customers who elect the all-natural product swear by it.
Misting Systems – Think of misting systems as a total control system for pests in your yard. The misting system is an automated set of pipes and a pump installed into your yard with a large reservoir of either the traditional or organic product. It releases products regularly twice a day. This keeps an even distribution of products in your yard daily. It offers a 99% elimination. We recommend it for particularly challenging yards, for clients who wish never to see another mosquito, and for people who want the control of elimination in the palm of their hands. The price can be steep ($2000 – $4000, depending on the size of the yard), but if you plan on staying in the home where it’s installed, the breakeven point is at about seven years, and you will be virtually mosquito free.
